December 27, 2006

 

Engine 13-2 is picked up by buyer, and leaves NOFC. Engine 13-2 made it's last trip up Bolton Street around 9pm, and began it's long journey to Missouri.

Projector 13 was placed in service. Hanging from the ceiling in the dining hall this will be used to project video, and television for functions, and trainings.

New Oxford Firefighters help some less fortunate families this Christmas season.  A few members deliver food, and presents to a few selected families in our first due area to provide a happier Christmas to these families.

Our newest addition: ICE 13 is placed into service. Our old ice machine broke beyond repair, and was replaced by this machine. This will be making ice for our banquets for years to come. Above members pose with the new ice machine.

Rescue 13 is used for vehicle rescue awareness class at the Adams County Emergency Services Training Center. Students learned various stabilization techniques, and procedures.

December 9, 2006

Apparatus gets shifted around.  With the sell of Engine 13-2, it was stripped of all it's equipment, and was temporally moved into the old engine room until it is picked up. Engine 13, Truck 13, and Rescue 13, are in their new bays. Firefighters will be working hard the next 2 weeks to mount tools, and prepare the truck so it can be placed in service at midnight on New Years Eve.

At the regular monthly meeting a bid for Engine 13-2 was presented by Chief Rabine. It was voted on by the membership, and Engine 13-2 has been sold. After the meeting Engine 13-2 was placed out of service permanently, and should be leaving New Oxford within 2 weeks. Engine 13-1 will now be known as Engine 13.

December 5, 2006

Truck 13, and Service 13 participate in the precession at the memorial service for Donnie Gantz. Donnie Gantz is a fallen firefighter from the Gettysburg, Fairfield, and Barlow Fire Company's. He was a very active firefighter, and spent many hours training new firefighters. Donnie will be missed by many of the New Oxford Firefighters.

The EMS Room gets a facelift. A group of firefighters donated their time to lay a tile floor. This project took about 4 hours, and features the number "13" in the center of the room.

Santa Claus comes to New Oxford, and takes a trip to the New Oxford Fire Company. Santa's elves led him while he was riding on the top of Rescue 13. Parents had an opportunity to bring their children out to see Santa.

Engine 13-1, and Ambulance 13A attend the 3rd round district game at the New Oxford High School continuing their support of this years team. Unfortunately New Oxford lost to Red Land 21 to 17 which ended this years season. Congratulations Colonials on a great season.

Since this engine will be sold and leaving the New Oxford area, it visited 13 new and old places in the New Oxford area that it has protected for almost 20 years. This engine will be missed by many of our drivers, and firefighters.

Memorial Services were held for firefighter Joe Louey at the First Church of God in Hanover. Firefighters, Family, and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Joe.

13A, and Engine 13-1 with crew of 6 attends the New Oxford High School football game to support them in their first round district game against Hamburg. The picture to the right shows Engine 13-1 flying the Colonials flag after winning. Congratulations Colonials, and good luck next Friday.

Joe Louey a long time firefighter of the New Oxford Fire Company passed away in the over night hours after a long battle with a terrible illness. He was a man that wanted to be involved with everything and would help anyone in need. He will be truly missed. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday November 11 at the First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive in Hanover at 2pm. All members are to meet at firehouse at 1pm in dress uniform.

Chief Steve Rabine gets married to Gail Myers. Services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover, and reception was at S.A.V.E.S. Station 2, where the ladders of Truck 13, and Quint 29 were arched over the entrance to the hall.

Truck13, Rescue 13, Engine 13-1, and 13A Participate in the New Oxford Halloween Parade. Engine 13-2, Engine 12, Brush 13, Engine 14-1, Engine/Tanker 14, and Special Unit 14 provided lighting at various areas of the parade route.

LT. BJ Felix gets married to Jess Hoover on the New Oxford Square. Ceremony included apparatus from New Oxford, East Berlin, S.A.V.E.S., York Springs, Penn Township, and Emmitsburg. Reception was held at the Irishtown Fire Company.

New Oxford Firefighters Participate in the Adams County Emergency Services Association Convention Parade. This years convention was hosted by the Irishtown Fire Company

New Oxford Fire Company hosts, and plays in the 6th Annual Adams County Fire Department Softball Tournament. This tournament is a fundraiser for the Adams County Emergency Services Training Center. The tournament is held at the Brushtown, and Brick & Block Fields both off 116 in Southeastern Adams County. Thanks S.A.V.E.S. for your help again this year, and congratulations to Emmitsburg for being this years champions.
